Hero level and bonuses (damage, speed or resource consumption)
Heroes provide either a damage bonus during battles, a speed bonus or a reduction in human consumption during movement for one unit type (infantry, cavalry etc.). Thus, a cavalry hero lends a damage, speed or consumption bonus to all cavalry units in the army to which the hero is assigned. It is important to note that the damage bonus is generally distributed over the three troop unit types. The total bonus is distributed based on the frequency with which the hero has fought against that troop unit type.
The bonus distribution can thus change over time. Heroes gather experience during both offensive and defensive battles. The current bonus distribution for a hero can be seen under Unit production -> Manage heroes.
Heroes die if all units in the army they are assigned to are destroyed during battle. A resurrection of the hero is not possible.
